How it all came about

Hazelarmstrong.com, was founded by Quentin Lau in 2001.

What began as a restoration project at age 19 - armed with enthusiasm but absolutely no mechanical experience - turned into a lifelong passion. As I worked my way through my first rebuild, I discovered a deep interest in Mechanical Engineering, which eventually led to completing a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering. More than 25 years (and four kids!) later, the free time for tinkering with old cars may have shrunk, but my love for air‑cooled Volkswagens certainly hasn’t. Over the years I’ve owned and restored a wide range of vintage VWs, and of course Hazel remains at the heart of it all. My wife, Annemarie, runs our Kombi hire business. She’s passionate about being part of people’s most memorable moments and takes great pride in helping make every special day run perfectly with our beautiful Kombi.
